MARRAKECH, THE MOST FASCINATING CITY OF MOROCCO.

Marrakech, located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, is the most exotic city in Morocco, making it the country’s main tourist attraction.

Marrakech is known as the Red City because of the color of its buildings. In 2001, UNESCO declared the square Djamaa el Fna, Oral Heritage of Humanity and is one of the busiest squares in Africa and the world. Everything in Marrakech revolves around DJamaa el Fna. Many people gather in this public space, filling it with colour and culture: musicians, storytellers, snake charmers, dancers, dentists, fruit juice sellers, acrobats, letter writers, water carriers, medicinal herb sellers. . . At dusk the square is filled with food stalls lit by hundreds of lights and as night falls, an infinite number of people gather to eat. From Djemaa el Fna square we access the Medina or old city. A labyrinth of narrow streets full of palaces, markets, mosques, domes and minarets.

The entire Medina of Marrakech has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.

THE DESERT, A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE!

From Marrakech we cross the Atlas Mountains and take you to the small village of Merzouga, located at the foot of the dunes and known as the Pearl of the Moroccan Desert. The dunes of Merzouga will captivate you by their great height and the orange color of their sand. Climbing its high dunes and contemplating the sunrise and sunset is, without a doubt, an unforgettable experience.

Another attraction of the Moroccan desert is to follow the famous route of the Paris-Dakar rally. In Ramlia Tours we are good connoisseurs of this route and also expert drivers in the desert. With 4×4 vehicles, we will follow the old track of the rally, passing through beautiful desert landscapes: dunes, hamadas … to reach spectacular oasis of palm trees in the middle of nowhere.

We will follow the route towards the Draa Valley until arriving at Zagora, the Gate of the Desert. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4
Zagora / Oasis of Ramlia

After breakfast we will leave Zagora and head for the Paris-Dakar rally route through beautiful Saharan landscapes. We will spend the night in a hotel in the heart of the desert (possibility of sleeping in traditional Berber Haima) and enjoy a traditional dinner enlivened with the sound of the tam-tam (drum).

Day 5

We will get up early to see the sunrise on the dunes and after a good breakfast we will head to Merzouga. We will leave the 4×4 and ride the camels that will take us to the heart of the desert; there we will enjoy an unforgettable sunset. Day 6
Desert / Todra Gorges / Dades Gorges

After breakfast we will go to the Todra river gorges, one of the natural gates that communicate the Atlas with the Sahara. It is one of the most beautiful oases in the region. The Todra River Gorges are located at the northern end of the Tinerhir palm grove, at the foot of the Eastern High Atlas mountain range. Little by little this palm grove narrows; the limestone rock walls that delimit it rise up to three hundred meters high; separated in some stretch by only twenty meters, being its narrowest point about ten meters wide. From here we will go to the Gorges of the river Dades.

Day 7
Dades Gorges / Marrakech

After breakfast we will continue our journey along the Dades River Gorges towards the Tamlat Gorge, where the rocks acquire curious geometric shapes due to wind erosion, popularly known as “monkey fingers”. From here we will follow our route through the High Atlas Mountains until we reach the city of Marrakech, the city of the Thousand and One Nights. Stay at the hotel.
